Germany supports Peace Mission for Somalia
With an amount of 3,58 million Euro from the Federal Foreign Office budget, Germany is supporting the African Union Mission for Somalia, AMISOM.
With this contribution, Germany is providing personal equipment for 850 Burundian AMISOM troops, such as clothing and shoes, as well as equipment for the whole battalion, including water purification units, generators and motor vehicles.
The troops, currently arriving in Mogadishu, will enforce 8.000 Burundian and Ugandan troops already on the ground.
Following a UN Security Council Resolution, this number is to increase to 12.000 troops in the coming months.
