For longer stays in Germany exceeding 90 days, such as family reunions, marriage, studies or au-pair jobs, you will need a long term national visa (category D).
All long term visa applicants will have to apply in person at the German Embassy Nairobi, as finger prints need to be taken of each applicant.
Please note that you have to reside in Kenya, Eritrea, Burundi, Somalia or Sechelles for more than six months in order to be eligible to apply with the Embassy in Nairobi.
Visa appointments must be booked online. It is not possible to apply for a long-term visa with the Honorary Consul in Seychelles.
Please note that the processing of a long term category D visa can take up to 9 weeks, in cases where a document verification is required up to six months.
