1. General information on Visa
1.1. Schengen visa, category C (short-term visa - for visits to Germany of up to 90 days)
According to the Schengen Agreement, tourist and business visa issued by a mission of one of the following countries are valid for travel to all other countries listed:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Lavia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
However, you always have to apply at the mission of the country which is your main destination.
Please note that the processing of a Schengen visa, category C application takes up to 15 working days. It is not possible to expedite the visa processing.
1.2. National visa, category D (long-term visa - for permanent stay in Germany)
A national visa is required for a stay in Germany exceeding a duration of 90 days, e. g. family reunion, student visa, au-pair visa etc.
Please note that the processing of a National visa, category D application takes up to 6 to 9 weeks. It is not possible to expedite the visa processing.
Applications for long-term visa can only be made at the German Embassy in Nairobi. It is not possible to apply for a long-term visa at the Honorary Consul in Mombasa. Please book an appointment online as described.

Information Leaflets and Forms can either be downloaded from this website or can be collected free of charge at the Security Entrance of the Embassy.
